The Vatican’s necropolis

The history of St. Peter’s goes back to the year 324 when the emperor Constantine ordered the building of a great basilica on the site of St. Peter’s tomb. An internal guide of the Vatican tells you about the interesting archaeological excavations under St. Peter’s, which began here around 1940, and leads you to the most important places of Christianity: to the tomb of St. Peter. Please note that the reservation of a guide must be booked for a long time in advance (at least 1 month before and 2 months in the high season).
